Being a “man of the People”, everywhere I go, I take the opportunity to interact with those I encounter….. bank tellers, grocery clerks, post office clerks, restaurant servers and bartenders, Uber drivers, etc. And, just as my parents taught me, I greet them with a smile, a warm “Hello!”, and always say “Please” and “Thank you”. I also inquire about their lives, as I share stories of mine, which always leads to interesting conversations.
In the summer of 2015, I retired from my 40-year career as an Accountant, Corporate Auditor, and Independent Business Consultant to Fortune 500 companies and moved from Houston, Texas to a small town outside of Marble Falls, in central Texas. While it was hard leaving my many Houston friends behind, I quickly made news ones, and enjoyed my new life there.
In September of 2016, however, I moved again, this time to north Texas, to a small community outside of Fort Worth. My two daughters and three grandchildren live in that area and I wanted to be closer to them. As before, I began to make new friends and acquaintances… at the bank, the grocery store where I shop, the post office, and at my new, favorite Mexican food restaurant, Cristina’s.
After more than one year as a customer, I am always greeted warmly by the staff: Luis, Coco, Adrianna, Juan, Jose, Marcela, Ronnie, Amber and too many others to mention.
Everyone there knows I am a 2018 candidate for U.S. Senator and they all support me. During my last visit, Amber was behind the bar and I struck up a conversation with her while I was drinking my margarita. Amber is a 20-something year old woman who truly likes her job as a server/bartender. As we talked, she told me she tells everyone she knows about my candidacy and about my plan to abolish the income tax. First, she told her parents, then, her grandparents, then her friends.
I asked her what the overall response was and she said “Everyone I’ve talked to told me they would vote for you, Bob!” Of course, that brought a smile to my face and warmed my heart.
As we talked further, I learned that, when she wasn’t working at the restaurant, and spending time with the family or her boyfriend, she was going to school to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She graduates in a year and is looking forward to the next phase of her life.
Amber is but one of millions of Texans, and hundreds of millions of Americans, who, when I am elected Senator, will enjoy life with more liberty and prosperity the anyone has in more than 100 years.
I pray that, on November 6, 2018, you will vote for “The Real Deal” Bob McNeil, American Citizen Party candidate for U.S. Senator from Texas.
